Recently, KSG has deployed their Ultra Portable Recording System out on The Cure's most recent jaunt to the Americas.

Legendary British band, The Cure have just completed four shows in the USA and Mexico.  Two performances at the Austin City Limits festival, and others in Monterrey, Mexico and El Paso, Texas.  The Cure wanted to record these shows but also wanted to avoid freighting vast amounts of equipment around the world.  So KSG linked up with 9 Volt Recording to provide two compact and portable recording systems.

Both systems were Mac based MADI recorders, capable of recording more than 64 channels simultaneously directly from the Avid Profile Front of House (FOH) desk.  Simple, easy to use and extremely stable, the recording rigs performed flawlessly.

FOH engineer, Paul Corkett was able to use the virtual sound check feature to playback the previous shows recording, enabling him to dial in the band's sound for every venue.

The Ultra Portable Recording System is a compact and light weight package that can easily fit in airline overhead baggage compartments.  Weighing in at only 13kg and capable of running off 110v or 240v, this rig can be used anywhere in the world.  A simple BNC or fibre connection allows 64ch of audio to be connected with another 18 inputs and outputs accessible via analogue, AES, SPDIF or ADAT connections.  Installed and available for use is Avid Pro Tools 10, Apple Logic Pro and Boom Recorder.  With 1TB on-board and 1TB external storage, capturing even the longest show is never a problem
